Calabarzon workers to get pay hike

MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners in Calabarzon are likely to get an increase in their daily take-home pay in September.
Criselda Sy, National Wages and Productivity Commission executive director, said the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) is undertaking a review of the minimum wage rate in the region.
“After the Wage Board in NCR (National Capital Region), the next to issue a new wage order is Calabarzon,” Sy said.
The RTWPB in Calabarzon is set to hold the first leg of blended public consultation on minimum wage adjustment today.
“This consultation aims to gather meaningful inputs from both labor and management sectors to help shape fair and responsive wage policies across Calabarzon,” the RTWPB said.
Sy noted that public consultations will be called in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces.
After consultations and public hearings, the RTWPB will come out with the decision on wage adjustments.
According to Sy, the RTWPBs in the country are mandated to conduct a review and issue a new wage order 60 days before the first anniversary of the prevailing wage order.
