Town exec surrenders over vlogger’s slay

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A municipal councilor has surrendered in connection with the killing of a vlogger in Patikul, Sulu.

Police detained Mumarzhen Suhuri, who allegedly shot dead social media content creator Mohammad Muksan last Friday.

Muksan was known for promoting unity among Tausug clans. He also pushed for multisectoral cooperation in peace-building.

Suhuri, a member of the Patikul municipal council, was accompanied by police officers when he surrendered to Sulu Vice Gov. Hadji Abdusakur Tan Sr.

Witnesses told probers that they saw Suhuri shoot Muksan near a resort in Barangay Umangay.

Suhuri escaped after the incident. He surrendered the following day as authorities launched a manhunt for him.

Relatives of Muksan and Suhuri said the victim and the suspect were friends and treated each other like siblings.

Suhuri reportedly admitted the killing but refused to give details.
