Abby unveils one-stop ‘Makatizen Card’ center

MANILA, Philippines — Makati Mayor Abby Binay led the inauguration of the new “Makatizen Card” center on the ground floor of the city hall main building over the weekend.
The Makatizen Card, introduced in 2017, consolidates access to health, social and financial benefits provided by the city government.
It also functions as a valid government-issued ID and is integrated with a digital wallet through the GCash app.
According to the city government, the benefits previously offered through the “Blu Card” and persons with disability cards have been fully integrated into the Makatizen Card system.
Senior citizens and PWDs can use their virtual cards for free movie access at partner cinemas.
Elderly Makati residents can receive cash gifts directly through GCash.
The Makatizen Card center will serve as a one-stop shop for services including online application assistance, virtual card generation, card replacement, inquiries and follow-ups as well as card releasing.
The facility is expected to reduce the need for multiple visits to various city hall offices, particularly benefiting senior citizens and PWDs.
The initiative consolidates all city government-issued cards and their functionalities into a single physical and digital platform.
From January to May 2025, the local government recorded 16,977 Makatizen Card applications, with 9,092 physical cards released.
