MANILA, Philippines — A manhunt was launched against a Somali who assaulted a policeman in Quezon City on Friday.

Police said Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, 26, struck the master sergeant who was trying to pacify an argument at a gasoline station in Barangay Katipunan at 4 a.m.

Initial investigation showed that the policeman, who was on routine patrol in the area, approached Hussein who was arguing with another man at the gas station.

The victim introduced himself as a police officer and tried to pacify the two.

Hussein allegedly did not comply, picked up a stone and hit the officer several times in the face.

Responders brought the police officer to the Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.

Hussein, whose last known address is Barangay 132 in Pasay, escaped on board a taxi.
