MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a 48-year-old traveler for making a bomb joke at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Sunday afternoon.

According to the police Aviation Security Group, the passenger was boarding a flight bound for Cebu when he declared that his bag contained a grenade while it was being placed in the overhead bin.

A cabin crew immediately notified the pilot, who reported the incident to the airline management and airport security personnel.

Police with K9 dogs searched the passenger’s bag, but found no bomb.

The suspect was taken into police custody on charges of violating Presidential Decree 1727, the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.
