MANILA, Philippines — Double pay awaits employees who will work today, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.

The DOLE said Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor has been declared a regular holiday.

Workers who will render services beyond eight hours will be paid an additional 30 percent of their rate per hour, the DOLE said.

Eight hours of work on a regular holiday that falls on the employee’s rest day shall be paid an additional 30 percent on top of the 200 percent basic wage.

Those who will opt not to work today shall still receive their daily pay.

The DOLE issued an advisory to guide workers and employers on the proper payment of wages during holidays.
