Comelec says 95% ready for Election Day

MANILA, Philippines — With less than two months before the May 12 midterm polls, the Commission on Elections yesterday said it is 95 percent ready for election day.
“More or less, we are 90 to 95 percent prepared. The ballots are ready and these are just undergoing verification process,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia said in a radio interview.
He also said they expect the printing of the voters’ information sheet (VIS) to be completed before the month ends.
“Printing of the voters’ information sheet is expected to be finished by March 25,” he said.
The VIS is a printed guide for voters showing the steps on how to cast their votes, as well as allows them to choose their candidates. It will be distributed to the entire country from April 1 to 30 by teams deployed by Comelec.
The training of teachers who will be on election duty is ongoing, Garcia said.
As for internet voting, the Comelec chief said, “Our kababayans can enroll now (for online voting). A link that will allow them to vote has been provided.”
“Even members of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, deployed to different parts of the country, are also ready for election day,” Garcia added.
