Duterte’s arrest boosts Duterte Youth party-list’s popularity
MANILA, Philippines — The arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte last week has fueled a surge in support for the Duterte Youth party-list, according to Tangere’s 2025 pre-election party-list preferential survey.
The survey revealed a three percent increase in voter preference for the group, with the boost primarily driven by young voters aged 18 to 30 from Visayas and Mindanao.
The Duterte Youth’s growing popularity places it among the leading contenders in the May elections.
Hot on its heels are four other party-list groups projected to secure two seats each in Congress: 4PS, with the highest voter preference at seven percent, followed by ACT-CIS and Tingog, which are tied at 4.50 percent, and Ako Bicol, which garnered 4.33 percent.
Forty other groups are expected to win one seat each, including several notable newcomers that have shown significant voter support: FPJ Panday Bayanihan, led by Brian Poe Llamanzares, and Solid North.
Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas, Partido sa Bagong Pilipino and Batang Quiapo also made its marks with an increased voter preference of two percent, 1.68 percent and 1.52 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, several incumbent party-list groups continue to enjoy high voter preference with Agimat leading at 3.33 percent, followed by Senior Citizens, Malasakit@Bayanihan, Bayan Muna, Gabriela and 1Pacman.
According to the survey, Filipinos expect the party-list groups to prioritize labor and employment, health and wellness, support for marginalized sectors and good governance.
The survey also showed that lowering the prices of basic goods and commodities topped the most pressing concerns of Filipinos.
