Man wanted for wife’s slay nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — A man who allegedly killed and dismembered his wife in Laguna over a decade ago has been arrested, according to the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the suspect, identified only as Alberto, was collared in Santa Rosa last Friday based on a warrant issued by the Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 108 for parricide.
The victim’s dismembered remains were found on May 9, 2011.
The suspect reportedly told his brother last year that he killed his wife. He did not tell his brother the reason for the killing.
Torre said the suspect’s daughter had asked the CIDG to investigate the matter thoroughly.
He said investigation showed that Alberto was the last person seen with his wife before she went missing in May 2011.
Torre gave assurance that the CIDG has a strong case against the suspect.
