P340 million shabu seized in Muntinlupa

MANILA, Philippines — Fifty kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P340 million were seized in a drug sting in Muntinlupa City yesterday.
Isagani Nerez, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director general, said PDEA agents spearheaded the operation in Barangay Putatan at around 8:30 a.m., leading to the arrest of two suspected shabu dealers identified only as Tita Joy and Liezel.
Nerez said the two transacted with agents and accepted bundles of marked money.
He added that operatives found the illegal drugs inside a carton box, a piece of luggage and an eco bag, which contained 50 plastic packs labeled Cote d’Ivoire.
The suspects are being held on charges of drug trafficking. The illegal drugs, meanwhile, were brought to the PDEA Laboratory Service for examination and analysis.
In Manila, drug enforcement unit personnel of the Manila Police District-Sampaloc Station seized P3.4 million worth of shabu during a sting that led to the arrest of four men on Wednesday.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act 9165 were filed against the suspects identified by the aliases Tisoy, Moymoy, JM and Loloy.
The four were arrested after transacting and receiving bundles of marked money from police agents at the corner of Makiling and Craig Streets in Barangay 497, Zone 49.
In Caloocan City, the Northern Police District (NPD) seized 64 grams of shabu and marijuana during a sting in Barangay 163 yesterday.
NPD director Col. Josefino Ligan said three people, identified only as Daniel, Utchay and Stephanie, were arrested during the operation.
Ligan said the suspects are part of a larger network involved in the distribution of shabu in Caloocan. — Ghio Ong
