MANILA, Philippines — Residents and tourists enjoyed a cool climate in Baguio City after the temperature dropped to 15.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, amid the effect of the northeast monsoon or amihan.

The second lowest temperature was recorded in Coron in Palawan with 17.4 degrees Celsius, based on the latest monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Completing the PAGASA list of Top 10 places in the country with the lowest temperatures were Itbayat, Batanes (18.8 degrees Celsius); Tanay, Rizal (19.5 degrees); Calayan, Cagayan (19.9 degrees); Abucay, Bataan (20 degrees); Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (20.6 degrees); Aparri, Cagayan (21.1 degrees); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (21.5 degrees) and Sinait, Ilocos Sur (21.5 degrees).

The temperature in Metro Manila ranged between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA declared the onset of northeast monsoon on Nov. 19, adding that the public could expect cooler temperatures and dry air across the country, with periodic surges expected in the coming months.

The agency said the northeasterly wind flow is expected to be more dominant in most of the country, bringing cold and dry air until February 2025.

According to PAGASA, longer nights are more evident this month and the public could expect an early sunset and delayed sunrise.
