MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake jolted Batanes yesterday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the temblor occurred at 11:35 a.m. and its epicenter was located six kilometers north of Basco.
The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Basco.
The temblor was tectonic in origin and was not expected to generate aftershocks or cause damage to property, state seismologists said.
