MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has called on the public to join its upcoming event that would tackle measures on how Metro Manila can free itself from its perennial problem of garbage disposal.

The agency will host the “Road to Zero Waste Summit” to be held on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Unilab Bayanihan Center in Pasig City.

The gathering, which will carry the theme “Closing the loop toward a circular economy,” “aims to spotlight innovative waste management solutions that can address Metro Manila’s solid waste challenges, leading to long-term sustainability,” according to the MMDA.

It said experts and exhibitors will show best practices in recycling, sustainable garbage disposal, waste segregation and composting.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes encouraged local government units in Metro Manila, national government agencies, solid waste management groups, schools, companies, social enterprises, waste recyclers and sanitary landfill operators to attend the two-day summit.

Artes called the event “a platform for sharing knowledge, building networks and fostering collaboration that will guide us toward a cleaner, greener and more resilient metropolis.”
