MANILA, Philippines —  Former vice president Leni Robredo, through the non-government organization she established, has mobilized a volunteer network to conduct rescue and relief operations for those affected by the widespread flooding and heavy rainfall caused by Super Typhoon Carina.

“Angat Buhay is actively collaborating with some of our partners to support rescue operations in the National Capital Region (NCR). In addition, we are directly coordinating with various local government units to report immediate rescue needs in their areas,” Robredo said in an update on Facebook.

She said they are in touch with Angat Bayanihan volunteers in various areas for the conduct of immediate relief operations.

These include volunteers in Quezon City, Pasay, Bataan, Rizal, Antipolo, Malabon, Novaliches, Bulacan, Marikina, Olongapo and Manila.

Robredo was in Baguio as she served as commencement speaker during the graduation rites of the University of the Philippines’ Baguio campus.

Angat Buhay executive director Raffy Magno said they were constantly in touch with the former vice president for the rescue and relief operations.

Robredo serves as chairman and president of the non-government organization.
