1 dead, 2 hurt in Benguet road accident

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A man died while two others were injured after a truck hit an SUV along Marcos Highway in Tuba town, Benguet on Friday.

According to a Tuba police report, the truck was unloading vegetables in Barangay Poblacion when the wood wedges used as manual brakes broke. The truck rolled downhill hitting an SUV and a jeep before ramming into a building.

Responding Tuba emergency personnel, the police and firefighters rushed truck driver Ruel Ocañada and helpers Eulinemar Talabis and Joey Luzano to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

Ocañada died a few hours after due to severe traumatic brain injury, multiple facial fractures and multiple rib fractures. Talabis and Luzano were treated for minor injuries.
