COTABATO CITY— Rescuers on Thursday found the cadavers of two girls swept away by rampaging floods that hit barangays in Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte late Tuesday. It damaged more than 200 houses and displaced some 600 families in the municipality.

An eleven-year-old girl and and her three-year-old-sister were found dead in separate locations in a secluded area in Barangay Campo Uno in Matanog by combined personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, policemen and members of units under the Philippine Navy’ 1st Marine Brigade

Rescue teams are still searching for their missing seven-year-old brother and two other children, one of them a special child, from families in another barangay in Matanog.

The regional director of the Bangsamoro police, Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, told reporters on Friday that policemen and local government emergency responders are still searching for two other missing grade school pupils who both perished as floodwaters swept through Barangay Molimok in nearby Balabagan, Lanao del Sur on Tuesday night.

Floods also hit then several barangays in Kapatagan and Balabagan towns, also both in Lanao del Sur.

More than 400 houses in the four towns, made of semi-permanent materials, were destroyed by the floods, spawned by heavy rains in hinterlands around, according to officials of different ministries of the Bangsamoro regional government now attending to the needs of at least 10,000 residents displaced by the calamity.

BARMM Social Services Minister Raissa Jadjurie has been leading since Wednesday the distribution of relief supplies to the flood-stricken residents of Matanog, Balabagan, Kapatagan and Malabang.
