MANILA, Philippines — Actor Sandro Muhlach filed charges before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday amid rumors that he had been abused by two GMA Network consultants.

The NBI said Sandro, 23, was accompanied by his father, actor Niño Muhlach, in filing a complaint, but the bureau did not name the respondents.

Sandro and Niño both requested for privacy, according to the NBI.

GMA Network consultants Jojo Nones (right) and Richard Cruz have denied claims they abused Sandro Muhlach.

‘Not reflecting true events’

Also yesterday, GMA consultants Richard Cruz and Jojo Nones denied allegations they abused Sandro during a major showbiz gala.

Through their lawyer Maggie Abraham-Garduque, they issued a statement expressing their “deep sadness” over the claims against them.

“Though these allegations do not mirror the true accounts of the event, we would like to reserve the right to respond in a proper forum when we receive a copy of the formal complaint,” the two said.

Cruz and Nones are reported to be part of the creative team of GMA’s top television series and programs. Cruz is the creative head of a primetime show while Nones is a writer, according to insiders.

GMA Network said it is investigating an internal complaint filed by Sandro against the two men.

Garduque urged the public to respect the ongoing investigation and advised people without personal knowledge of the incident to refrain from posting “baseless and defamatory allegations that could unfairly subject both parties to a trial by publicity.”

The elder Muhlach said they would talk after a criminal case is filed against Nones and Cruz.

Niño and his wife, Dianne Tupaz, have made cryptic posts on social media addressing the rumors.

On his Facebook account, Niño said, “Inumpisahan nyo, tatapusin ko (You started it, I’ll finish it)!”

Niño’s sister, Angela, said on Instagram that their family “will be the one to break the injustices all the other artists are facing! This has to stop! We will fight (against) injustice.”
