MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges against a man who allegedly sold online materials showing sexual abuse and exploitation of minors.

In a seven-page resolution dated May 7 and obtained by journalists yesterday, the DOJ charged Bench Ortillano Lee of violation of Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act, and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.

The charges were filed before a trial court in Nueva Ecija.

The case stemmed from information received by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) about Lee allegedly selling videos and photos of boys through the online platform Telegram.

The NBI identified social media accounts that were advertising explicit contents and offering discounts for access to a Telegram channel.

Through an undercover agent, the NBI was able to connect with Lee, who asked for P499 in exchange for the access to his account, which contained more than 200 “uncensored contents.”

During the raid, materials showing child sexual abuse and exploitation were seized from Lee as well as videos and photographs showing him engaging in obscene activities with minors.
