Driver dies, 2 hurt in Quezon City shooting

MANILA, Philippines — A driver of a ride-hailing app was killed while two others were wounded in a shooting in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Gerardo Obiso, 44, was killed in the shooting, which occurred along Litex Road in Barangay Commonwealth at past 1 a.m.

Two other men aged 26 and 29 were wounded in the incident. They are recuperating in a hospital.

Investigators of the Batasan police station 6 said they have yet to identify the suspect, who was wearing a black shirt and denim shorts.

Citing the accounts of witnesses, probers said the assailant and the victims were seen arguing before the shooting.

The suspect left the scene but returned after a few minutes with a handgun, police said. The suspect opened fire at the victims before fleeing.

A rescue team brought the victims to a hospital, but Obiso was declared dead due to gunshots to the chest, abdomen and right shoulder
