MANILA, Philippines — A total of 57,683 people or 17.2 percent of the 335,385 examinees passed the civil service examinations (CSE) held on March 3, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced on Friday.

At least 17.22 percent or 51,311 out of the 297,952 takers passed the professional level.

The passing rate for the sub-professional level was 17.02 percent or 6,372 out of the 37,433 examinees.

”Your hard work has paid off, bringing you one step closer to joining the ranks of our 1.9 million dedicated civil servants nationwide,” CSC chairperson Karlo Nograles said in a statement.

Passing the CSE is a prerequisite for those who wish to enter the government career service.

The CSE professional level eligibility is required for permanent appointments to both first-level or clerical and second-level or technical positions, provided these positions do not involve the practice of a profession and are not governed by the Bar, board or other laws.

Those who passed the sub-professional level shall be granted eligibility only to first level positions.

The CSC reminded applicants that eligibility alone does not guarantee appointment in government service. ”Candidates must also meet the education, experience, training and other competency requirements of the positions,” it said.
