Seized Chinese released after paying ransom

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A Chinese man seized in Makati has been released in Imus, Cavite after his family reportedly paid ransom to the kidnappers.

Zhang Yang, 35, of Barangay San Antonio, Makati, was abandoned by the kidnappers in a fastfood outlet in Barangay Malagasang, Imus at around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Reports said that Zhang’s family paid $18,000 in exchange for his freedom. The money was reportedly wired to an account provided by the kidnappers.

Zhang was alone in the fastfood outlet when police arrived to retrieve him.
