MANILA, Philippines — Fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy may lose his guns after the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) recommended the revocation of his licenses to own and possess firearms.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil announced yesterday that his legal team is reviewing the recommendation of the FEO.
“I have it reviewed before I sign it,” Marbil told reporters in a Viber message.
FEO records show that Quiboloy has 19 guns. The license of one of the guns expired in March.
The FEO also recommended the revocation of the gun license of one of Quiboloy’s co-accused, Ingrid Canada.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said a decision on the FEO recommendation would be out this week.
Fajardo said the FEO cited a provision under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, which states that a person can lose his gun license and registration for facing charges punishable with imprisonment of more than two years.
Quiboloy was charged with a non-bailable offense of qualified human trafficking.
A court in Davao City also ordered Quiboloy’s arrest for child and sexual abuse.
Fajardo noted that the cases are punishable with life imprisonment.
She said Quiboloy should surrender his guns within six months once Marbil approves the recommendation of the FEO.
Fajardo said Quiboloy’s situation is applicable to other gun owners facing criminal cases with prison terms of at least two years.
Police have yet to determine the whereabouts of Quiboloy.
