MANILA, Philippines —  Two Chinese wanted for various crimes were arrested in separate operations last week, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Zhu Yuanjiang, 25, was apprehended on April 17, and Ma Mingjie, 51, on April 19.

Ma was arrested at his house in a Parañaque for contract fraud amounting to $8 million. The Jiangbei district sub-bureau of the Public Security Bureau in Chongqing issued a warrant for Ma’s arrest on Dec. 6, 2017.

Ma and his alleged accomplices allegedly tampered with bank accounts and account names of a point-of-sale machine merchant, resulting in the unauthorized transfer of $8 million to his bank account.

Zhu was arrested in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City after the BI issued a warrant of deportation last year for overstaying and for working without a permit at Xinchuang Network Technology Inc., an online gaming hub in Pasay.

Police raided Xinchuang last year for allegedly engaging in human trafficking and cyber fraud.
