MMDA: Brace for Holy Week road repairs

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday advised motorists to plan their travels as more roads in the metropolis would be closed for repairs this Holy Week.

Portions of two flyovers along C-5 in Pasig City would undergo repair of expansion joints until 4 a.m. on April 1, the MMDA said.

The road repairs will affect the southbound lane of C-5 flyover near Pasig Boulevard and the southbound lane of the C-5 flyover near Ortigas.

Motorists were also advised to avoid Marcos Highway near Dasdasan street in Marikina City where the Department of Transportation is conducting repair of the existing overhead pipe for the Light Rail Transit Line 2’s extension project.

Other major roads that are closed for repairs are the Batasan-Commonwealth Tunnel, West Avenue, Luzon Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, Mindanao Avenue, Payatas Road and IBP Road in Quezon City; Roxas Boulevard in Pasay; South Luzon Expressway in Parañaque, and EDSA-Guadalupe northbound in Makati.

Portions of Barangays South Triangle, San Martin de Porres, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Veterans Village and Balintawak in Quezon City; Rizal Avenue, General San Miguel and C-4 in Caloocan City; Quirino Avenue in Manila, and parts of EDSA in Mandaluyong are also closed for road works.

Meanwhile, the MMDA said Manila Water would conduct leak repairs along EDSA-Balintawak in Quezon City from March 28 to 29.
