4 Makati health centers to extend hours for ‘embo’ barangays

Daphne Galvez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Four health centers in Makati will extend their operating hours starting today to cater to more patients.

The city government said the Bangkal, Poblacion, Kasilawan and Guadalupe Nuevo health centers will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for all residents as well as those from the 10 enlisted men’s barrios or “embo” barangays.

“Just proceed to the health centers to schedule an appointment,” Makati said in a Facebook post.

New ambulances for Taguig

Meanwhile, the city government of Taguig said it has turned over new ambulances to barangays Comembo and Rizal, two “embo” barangays that were previously under the jurisdiction of Makati, “to ensure continued and health emergency response for residents.”

Taguig alleged that Makati took the barangays’ old ambulances, adding that Comembo’s ambulance was not even from the Makati City government but from the Department of Health under its health facilities enhancement program.

“The old ambulances were taken from us, but we were given a better one. There are things that were taken from us, but these will be replaced by better things by the Lord,” Barangay Comembo council member Cielita Cortez said, as quoted by the Taguig City government.

Barangay Rizal disaster risk reduction and management team head Vladimir Lucido said the new emergency vehicle will help many people.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano led the turnover ceremony for the ambulances..
