Manhunt on for escaped Jordanian fugitive

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Immigration officials have ordered a manhunt for a Jordanian who escaped security escorts on Tuesday after attending a court hearing in Makati.

Jordanian fugitive Tarek Nihad Siam, 47, is on trial for alleged gun possession and physical injuries in 2022.

Siam is also wanted in Abu Dhabi for assault and alcohol abuse, according to Interpol or the International Criminal Police Organization.

He reportedly escaped through a small window in the lavatory after attending a hearing at the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 237.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said they are determining the accuracy of the security escorts’ report explaining how Siam escaped.

Two job order personnel who guarded Siam were terminated. Their team leader is facing an investigation.
