2 Americans rescued from distressed yacht off Davao Oriental

MANILA, Philippines — Two Americans were rescued after their yacht stalled off the coast of Davao Oriental yesterday.

Pleasure Yacht Apkallu, which departed from Indonesia, reported engine failure 8.8 nautical miles west-southwest of Surup, Governor Generoso, the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) Southeastern Mindanao district reported yesterday.

The distress call prompted the PCG to deploy its patrol boat BRP Panglao and another vessel equipped for towing and search and rescue operations

BRP Panglao managed to tow the yacht despite ”challenging sea condition,” the PCG said.

The two passengers, who have yet to be identified, underwent medical checkup as well as Customs and immigration clearances.
