COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Six barangays in Malita, Davao Occidental were submerged in floodwaters after two days of heavy rain.
These are Barangays Pangaleon, Macol, Sangay, Bolila and Felis.
Parts of Barangay Poblacion were also hit by flooding.
Norberto Jaso Jr. of the Malita Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said a portion of Bolila Bridge, which connects Bolila and Barangay Kibalatong, collapsed and remained impassable yesterday.
On Thursday, Mayor Bradly Bautista ordered the suspension of classes and adoption of work-from-home arrangement for government employees for two days.
Police assisted members of the Malita DRRMO in attending to the needs of affected residents.
