MANILA, Philippines — Six Chinese and a Filipino were arrested in Parañaque on Sunday for allegedly operating an abortion clinic, the National Capital Region Police Office said yesterday.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Edgar Allan Okubo said its Regional Intelligence Division conducted a raid after receiving information that the clinic sold abortifacients.
The raiding team found that abortions were also done at the clinic, which had traces of blood, Okubo said.
The NCRPO did not identify the suspects.
Seized from the suspects were a packet of mifepristone, an abortifacient, and antibiotics cefixime and metronidazole.
The suspects face charges of illegal practice of medicine and violating the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act.
