Chinese kidnap victim escapes from captors

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man kidnapped by his compatriots at a condominium in Pasay City on Sunday afternoon reportedly escaped from his captors and was rescued in Ternate, Cavite on Monday.

Chen Xiao Long, a native of Guandong and an employee of a Philippine offshore gaming operator firm, was rescued by Marine personnel in Sitio Bayabay in Barangay Sapang 1 at around 2 a.m., Maj. Xelacor Marie Garcia, acting Ternate police chief, said in a phone interview.

Garcia said the victim was beaten up by his kidnappers, citing the contusions and bruises on hs face and body. – Emmanuel Tupas
