Central Visayas workers seek P100 daily wage hike
MANILA, Philippines — Twelve labor groups in Central Visayas filed petitions yesterday for an increase of P100 in the daily minimum wage of workers in the region.
The Alyansa sa Mamumuong Kontraktwal sa Sugbo filed a petition before the Central Visayas Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board.
The Partido Manggagawa-Cebu, on the other hand, filed its petition jointly with 10 other labor groups.
The daily minimum salary in Central Visayas is P435, but the real wage is only P375 to P384 per day, according to the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
The regional wage board dismissed an earlier petition for an across-the-board wage hike of P100, citing lack of jurisdiction. –/The Freeman
