Go aids typhoon victims in Passi

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go remains steadfast in his commitment to provide assistance to Filipinos in need, particularly those affected by disasters.

On Sunday, Go and his team delivered assistance to recovering victims of Typhoon Paeng in Passi City in Iloilo.

Held at the covered court at the Passi 1 Central School in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, the senator and his team handed out grocery packs, vitamins, face masks, snacks and shirts to 1,355 residents. Cellular phones, shoes, balls for basketball and volleyball, umbrellas, watches and bicycles were given to to select individuals.

Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance to each beneficiary.

Go has been vocal about the need for the government to be more proactive in responding to disaster-related incidents.

He vowed to continue pushing for the approval of Senate Bill 188, which aims to establish the Department of Disaster Resilience. The proposed Cabinet-level department will develop holistic measures for better disaster preparedness.
