Las Piñas’ top fugitive falls

MANILA, Philippines — The Las Piñas City police’s most wanted fugitive was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Francis Sarmiento, 33, was served an arrest warrant for statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness at around 1:30 p.m. along Acacia street in Vista Real Executive Village in Quezon City, the Southern Police District said.

The warrant was issued by Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 202 Judge Elizabeth Guray, who set bail at P400,000 for the acts of lasciviousness charge and recommended no bail for the statutory rape charge.

Sarmiento is currently detained at the city police station’s custodial facility.
