MANILA, Philippines — The dry run for the implementation of the motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City will start today, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.
There will be no apprehensions during the dry run until March 19, acting MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said.
“The dry run is meant to familiarize motorcycle riders traversing Commonwealth Avenue. We will have a full deployment of MMDA traffic enforcers and we will be assisted by the local government of Quezon City,” Artes said in a statement.
The motorcycle lane is the third lane from the sidewalk of Commonwealth Avenue, from Elliptical Road to Doña Carmen and vice versa.
The MMDA will strictly implement the motorcycle lane on March 20. Violators will be fined P500.
Artes said the motorcycle lane would help prevent vehicular accidents and improve traffic flow in the area.
