MANILA, Philippines — A cargo vessel with 14 crewmembers ran aground in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro on Sunday.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said all 14 crewmembers of the Manfel V were rescued at around 7 p.m. of the same day.

The crewmembers were taken to the municipal hall for medical checkup and antigen tests. They were declared in good physical condition.

Personnel of the PCG sub-station in Lubang questioned the crewmembers regarding the accident.

Manfel V skipper Radie Brillane was ordered to file a report within 24 hours.

Initial information received by the PCG showed the Manfel V left the Port of Subic in Zambales and was headed to Bauan in Batangas when it encountered engine trouble at around 9 a.m. near Fortune Island.

The vessel drifted toward Lubang, where it hit ground near Barangay Maligaya.

As of yesterday, the PCG was checking for any sign of oil spill in the area.
