Joyride passenger dies in Quezon City crash

MANILA, Philippines — A passenger of ride-hailing app Joyride died after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a bus in Quezon City on Tuesday.

The accident occurred in Barangay Immaculate Conception at around 11 a.m., according to a report from the Quezon City Police District’s Traffic Sector 4.

Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling toward EDSA from E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue when it was rear-ended by a passenger bus at the intersection of Denver and New York streets.

The motorcycle’s passenger, 44-year-old Honorio Herrera, fell on the pavement. Rescuers brought him to the East Avenue Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

The motorcycle rider, Jose Labrado Jr., is recuperating from his injuries in the hospital.

Bus driver Robert Santos, 42, is being held on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and damage to property.
