COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An officer of the Philippine Marines was killed in an attack by two unidentified assailants in this city yesterday morning.
Sgt. Rodolfo Magno was in his car, waiting for his wife when the assailants approached and shot him in Barangay Dapdap.
Magno was declared dead on arrival in a hospital due to gunshot wounds in the head and body, according to Maj. John Vincent Bravo, chief of the city police precinct 1.
Witnesses said the assailants had escaped before the responding police officers arrived at the scene of the incident.
Probers said they recovered three bullet shells for a .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene.
