3 dead in Batangas road mishap

BATANGAS, Philippines — Three motorcycle riders died when their vehicle crashed into a truck parked by the roadside in Taal, Batangas on Wednesday.

Police said Jenny Lyn Alvarez, 29; Daniella Tracy Alava, 21, and Billy Joe Aquino, 27, suffered head and body injuries and died at the scene.

The truck driver, Robert Vergara, was taken into police custody.

Footage of closed-circuit television camera at the scene showed that there was no early warning device placed at the back of the truck.
