New EPD chief assumes post

MANILA, Philippines — The Eastern Police District (EPD) has a new director.

Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis officially assumed the EPD post yesterday.  He replaced Brig. Gen. Orlando Yebra Jr., who retired from the police service last week.

Bearis, who is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1993, was described by Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad as a “seasoned investigator, operative and administrator.”

As chief of the EPD, Bearis has supervision over the police stations in Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig and San Juan. At least 2,600 police officers are assigned at the EPD.

Bearis previously headed the regional staff of the National Capital Region Police Office. He also served as deputy director for administration at the EPD as well as the Police Security and Protection Group.
