FDA warns public vs unregistered COVID-19 test kits
MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public anew to refrain from buying and using unregistered COVID-19 test kits that are being sold online.
In an advisory, the FDA said the safety of Partner COVID-19 IGG/IGM rapid test cassette (WB/S/P) could not be guaranteed since it has not gone through the evaluation process of the agency.
According to the FDA, post-marketing surveillance showed that the product is not certified by the agency.
The FDA warned the public against the distribution of the uncertified medical product.
The FDA noted that online selling of COVID-19 test kits whether RT-PCR, antigen or self-administered is strictly prohibited.
Healthcare professionals and the general public are advised not to use the uncertified COVID-19 test kit, the agency said.
The FDA reminded consumers to always check if a product has been certified by the agency.
The Bureau of Customs must stop the entry of unregistered COVID-19 test kits in the country, the FDA said.
