Taguig fire leaves 300 families homeless
MANILA, Philippines — At least 300 families lost their homes when a fire broke out at a slum community in Taguig City on Thursday night.
Arson probers said the fire started at around 10:51 p.m. and reached third alarm. At least 71 fire trucks responded to the scene.
The Bureau of Fire Protection, in a report, said the blaze razed around 70 houses along Tawi-Tawi street in Barangay Maharlika.
The fire originated at a shanty owned by a certain Sapia Ayunan. Investigators have yet to establish the cause of the blaze.
Firefighters doused the fire yesterday at around 1:37 a.m.
There were no casualties as a result of the fire. Damage to property was placed at P750,000.
The affected residents are taking shelter at an evacuation center.
