MANILA, Philippines — Some 1,200 healthcare workers in San Juan City are qualified for COVID-19 booster shots, according to Mayor Francis Zamora.

Zamora led yesterday the rollout of booster shots for the city’s health workers at the FilOil Flying V Center.

The Department of Health (DOH) and Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) approved the administration of booster shots to fully vaccinated healthcare workers, who received their COVID jab at least six months ago.

Frontliners will receive their vaccination schedule through text. Walk-ins will not be allowed.

“We are happy that the DOH and IATF approved the administration of booster shots to our medical frontliners. We need to protect them since they are more exposed to the virus,” Zamora said.

In Taguig, the city government started yesterday the booster shot vaccination of health workers.
