Ex-councilor tagged in Los Baños mayor’s slay nabbed
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A former councilor, said to be the mastermind in the killing of Mayor Caesar Perez of Los Baños, Laguna, was arrested in Baguio City on Tuesday.
Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, Calabarzon police director, said joint teams of the Batangas police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group apprehended Norvin Tamisin in Barangay Bakakeng at around 5 p.m.
The arrest was based on a warrant for murder issued by Los Baños Regional Trial Court Branch 107 Judge Rene Natividad dated Oct. 22.
Col. Glicerio Cansilao, Batangas police director, said Tamisin was ranked sixth among the most wanted persons in Calabarzon.
Glenn Arieta, head of the information and communication system at the Los Baños municipal government, was also charged in connection with Perez’s killing.
Perez was walking toward the receiving area of the town hall in Barangay Batong Malake in December last year when he was shot several times. He died while being treated in a hospital.
He was included in President Duterte’s list of local officials linked to the illegal drug trade. The mayor had denied the allegations.
