9 fishermen reported missing off Catanduanes

MANILA, Philippines — A search and rescue operation has been launched for nine fishermen who were reported missing in the waters off Catanduanes, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

The PCG said the fishermen were on board two unmarked motorized boats when they ventured out into the sea on Jan. 2. They were supposed to have returned on Jan. 5.

The PCG Station in Catanduanes said the search would continue once the weather improves.

In a post on social media, the PCG said additional resources have been deployed to expand the search area and increase the chances of finding the fishermen alive.
