MANILA, Philippines — Starting next month, the almost 10,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Parañaque City will receive financial assistance through online disbursement, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said yesterday.

He made the announcement after signing a memorandum of agreement between the city government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The agreement covers the use of the Pantawid Pamilya Information System to effect the fund transfer to each beneficiary’s account. A total of 9,728 active 4Ps beneficiaries from the city are registered with the PPIS.

“This is good news to our 4Ps beneficiaries because they will be able to receive their ‘ayuda’ direct to their accounts and they will no longer need to line up in the distribution centers. It’s much safer and more convenient, especially this time of pandemic,” he said.

In April last year, the city government was the first local government unit selected by the DSWD to distribute cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program.

This was followed by several online disbursement activities in partnership with financial service providers Unionbank of the Philippines, Globe’s GCash and StarPay.
