DILG hits Parañaque for vaccinating actor

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) yesterday called out Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez for allegedly allowing an actor to jump the vaccine line.

DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing said he was irked that Mark Anthony Fernandez, the son of actress Alma Moreno and Rudy Fernandez, got vaccinated ahead of health care workers.

“We have a priority list that should be implemented,” Densing said in an interview aired over dzBB.

Densing said Olivarez could be held accountable for command responsibility for not implementing the vaccination program properly.

Olivarez said that Fernandez, who is hypertensive, is among the next group in the priority list as he is a person who has comorbidities.

“Parañaque already finished vaccinating medical frontliners, next priority group are senior citizens and people with comorbids. As per our medical team, Mark Anthony has comorbids,” he said in a statement.

Villages locked down

The city government said yesterday it has placed Greenheights Village, Matatdo Homes, Krause Village, Nersab Compound and Camella Homes in Barangay San Isidro under granular and calibrated lockdown after the barangay accounted for 19 of the city’s 123 active cases, the highest among Parañaque’s 16 barangays.
