BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — The Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the Cordillera Administrative Region has endorsed programs and projects amounting to P160 million for barangays declared insurgency-free.
Six barangays in Abra and one each in Kalinga and Mountain Province were identified as beneficiaries under the task force’s support to barangay development program.
A total of P108 million was allocated for farm-to-market roads, P25 million for water and sanitation systems, P17 million for school buildings, P8 million for health stations and P2 million for agricultural, livelihood and technical-vocational training projects.
“We came into this task together in support of the national government’s massive campaign for sustainable development of rural areas, especially in barangays impoverished by the malignant presence of CTGs (communist terrorist groups),” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar, who is Cabinet officer for regional development and security for the Cordilleras.
