Illegal clinic raided in Makati
MANILA, Philippines — Police raided an illegal clinic that caters to Chinese workers of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) in Makati City on Thursday night.
The Southern Police District raided a room at the fifth floor of the OYO 196 Destiny Hotel in Barangay Poblacion that was reportedly used for surgeries and dispensing Chinese medicines. Patients could set appointments using the messaging app WeChat, the SPD said.
Police officers and personnel from the city government’s business process and licensing office confiscated medicines and medical equipment valued at around P6 million.
Two garbage bags that contained medical waste such as used syringes, bloodstained pieces of gauze and dextrose containers were found in the hotel room, the city police reported.
Police arrested He Pian Yun, 58, said to be the caretaker of the clinic. The BPLO said it has not issued any permit for the clinic.
He faces charges of violating Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
Police launched a manhunt for the doctor running the illegal clinic.
