MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Larry Gadon has withdrawn his motion with the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to stop the House of Representatives from giving a temporary franchise to television network ABS-CBN, whose franchise expired on May 5.
Gadon said Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s pronouncement to “immediately proceed” with resuming the hearings on the bills granting a new 25-year franchise to ABS-CBN makes his motion “moot and academic” because the act he sought to prevent no longer exists.
