MANILA, Philippines — Two shipping containers of cigarettes from China were confiscated at the Port of Manila by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) yesterday.
The two shipments, which arrived at the port on April 27 and May 1, were put on hold after the BOC found they had been misdeclared as furniture and blinds.
Based on BOC records, the shipments were consigned to Vierport International Co. and Anikas Will Industry Corp.
The BOC is preparing charges of violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act against the persons responsible for the shipment. The bureau did not name them.
